Laura Muyldermans (1987, BE) is a Brussels-based architect. Most of her work departs from casual conversations, unexpected encounters and random observations, leading her to question and broaden conventional and normative experiences of the built environment and the spatial everyday. Laura has a particular interest in developing strategies to include ‘the absent’ in building projects and its procedures. With Bouwaanvraag she filed building permits for projects without clients, in the general interest.
Bart Leo Decroos (1989, BE) is an architect, researcher and writer. His texts are born in the tension between fictional narrative and built space, resulting in short stories, artistic installations and reflective essays.
Laura Muyldermans & Bart Leo Decroos – Register of Building Biographical Portraits
The ‘Register of Building Biographical Portraits’ is an archive that compiles and preserves the subjectivity of existing and future buildings. Using administrative data, inherited memories, and speculative fiction, certificates are drawn up and sent out, allowing the buildings themselves to speak. ‘Portrait Fobrux’ tells the story of this former factory building, which finds itself at a tipping point in its own history, while the ‘Portrait Field’ digs into the layers of the unstable past of this not-so-empty field.
